Night Flight to London Hits Global Music Marketplace
Grammy-nominated producer Tommy Faragher calls his collaboration “a collection of deeply personal, expressive songs soulfully delivered.” For New York-based singer/songwriter Jennie Walker, it is the realization of a 7-year dream. Today, Walker’s long-awaited album “Night Flight to London” will be released worldwide.
According to Walker, “I funded the album one song at a time and 7 years later, it was finally complete. The industry has changed a lot over the course of putting this album together and I am thrilled to be launching the album at a time when emerging artists can truly build their own small business around their music.”Walker’s style, reminiscent of Adele, Tory Amos, and Kate Bush, is put to particularly good use in the ballad “Night Flight to London,” showcasing her smoky range. Walker was inspired while dating a member of the London Fire Brigade and traveling frequently from New York City on the night flight to London. The ballad “Did You Notice Me” was inspired by the New York Times Best Selling book “The Glory of It All” by Sean Wilsey. Her song “It’s Our Time” reflects on the Olympic level pursuit of ones dreams over a lifetime, which ultimately realized is a personal victory.
The album is also an award-winning small business effort. Walker created a video pitch on ways her songs could be aligned with the airline, such as in-flight audio placement, national ad campaign or a premium for first class passengers, and was honored by British Airways in 2011. British Airways is also supporting the full album with six months of exposure in the airlines in-flight entertainment system from August 2011 through January 2012.
“Night Flight to London” is being digitally distributed through UK based Ditto Music, Walker’s own label JennieGirl™ Music and publishing entity, Jennie Walker Music Publishing (ASCAP).
